The Kurt Blaukopf Archive is located at the Department of Music Sociology and was opened to the public in 2007.
Kurt Blaukopf, founder of the “Viennese School” of music sociology, is known far beyond Austria as a pioneer of German-language music and art sociology, with undisputed authority in the fields of music education research, mediamorphosis research, Mahler research, orchestra research, and media sociology. This archive includes many of his published and unpublished writings, his personal and professional correspondence, and secondary literature on his research and on the “Viennese school" of music sociology.
