Teaching

In the department’s teaching activities, the focus is on conveying and deepening current insights into sociology in general and music sociology in particular.

Students from the artistic and pedagogical areas of music studies as well as from the areas of cultural studies and social sciences are taught both the fundamental knowledge and the methodology to reinforce their competence in theory and research and enable them to analyse and reflect on various artist practices and discourses in the context of historical processes of change.

The Department of Music Sociology supervises bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD theses in the fields of music sociology, sociology of art and culture, and cultural management.
