Robert Marksteiner works as a research assistant at the Department of Music Sociology and is currently studying for a Master's degree in Music in Society. Having studied musicology at the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck, he developed a strong interest in sociological questions within the context of popular music. His research primarily focuses on populism in popular music.

Alongside his academic work, he is an active musician and music producer, including as part of the duo humming people.
