Herta and Kurt Blaukopf Award for Outstanding Dissertations at the mdw

The Rector of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna regularly presents the “Herta and Kurt Blaukopf Award for Outstanding Dissertations at the mdw”. This award was created in order to make visible special achievements within the scholarly doctoral studies programme at the mdw as well as to provide early-stage researchers with support for their further academic careers.

First issued in 2019, the Herta and Kurt Blaukopf Award for outstanding dissertations at the mdw is granted by a transdisciplinary internal jury, chaired by the Dean of Research Programmes, on the basis of independent external evaluations. The first award was presented by the Rector during a festive event on 16 December 2019. A recording of the second award ceremony on 8 June 2022 is accessible via the mdw-Mediathek. The award was presented for the third time on 19 June 2024.
